What makes a collegiate volleyball program elite? At the University of Michigan, it all starts with our student-athletes. Determination and grit have earned the women of the U-M volleyball team 16 trips to the NCAA Tournament. Poise, both on and off the court, has helped 16 of those women become All-Americans. As Wolverines, we carry on that championship tradition, going beyond our best and pushing ourselves harder everyday to excel both on the court and in the classroom. During our time here, we learn from outstanding coaches – and, of course, we receive the world-class education and support only a top-ranked university like Michigan can provide. Learn more about the people and traditions that make this program special and imagine yourself as a Michigan Wolverine.
“At Michigan, every sport program has high expectations and similar goals. We are all on a mission to compete for Big Ten Championships and NCAA National Championships. These are goals that our staff and student-athletes are striving for each and every day! With such high goals, we never want to lose site of the ‘process’ that will allow us to reach these lofty accomplishments. A common saying around Michigan Athletics is: ‘Talent and Culture Win.’ We know how important it is to recruit talented student-athletes to our program, but talent isn't enough. We also need to recruit and develop a championship culture to surround those talented individuals. Michigan volleyball has established a set of five core values that surround one big goal. These core values and overriding goal guide everything we do within our program. Those five core values are: Character, Commitment, Family, Appreciation and Pride. The one overriding goal that these core values surround and support is ‘WIN FOR MICHIGAN.’”
